The Care Building is a ministry that the Thomaston Road Church has been involved with for a long time. Over the years we have perfected it to enable us to serve as many as we are able with the donations that are given to support this cause.
We know there are people who are struggling, whether it is for a short period of time or a longer period of time due to unemployment, sickness, and having to take care of children and family members. We want to be able to help in the time when they are having the struggle to put food on their table. People needing help with food are told to bring a form of ID and something that shows their physical address in order to sign up to receive groceries. Food is given out on Wednesdays at 6 pm.
All the people working in the Care Building are volunteers who give of their time to serve others. We also have volunteers who are willing to pray with our clients when they come to receive groceries as we know prayer is one of our biggest helps in time of trouble.
We also have an annual event called "Christmas Care." Right before Christmas we have a Sunday evening where we open our gym to people we have served through the Care Building Ministry or to people who have heard about us through word of mouth who are in need of help with a Christmas dinner and gifts for children. Each family from the Care Building and other people we know who are struggling are encouraged to come and get a ham/turkey and the makings of a Christmas dinner plus get a gift for any child in their immediate family that is less than 13 years of age.
